Minutes of the special meeting of the City Council of Apple Valley, Dakota County,
Minnesota, held March 21st, 1985, at 8:00 o'clock p.m. at the City Hall pursuant to
due call and notice thereof.
PRESENT: Mayor Branning; Councilmembers Goodwin, Holton, Humphrey and Savanick;
Administrator Asleson and Clerk Mueller.
ABSENT: None.
Mayor Branning called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Asleson said the infor-
mation necessary to set a bond sale date was not complete and this would be
rescheduled for the Council's March 28, 1985, meeting.
Mr. Asleson reviewed the history of Joe Dorma's July 1, 1984, termination due to
injuries resulting from a private personal injury accident. The termination was
upheld by an arbitrator, but a claim was also filed with theMinnesota Department
of Human Rights for discrimination on the basis of handicap. Because the McMenomy
Law Firm represented Mr. Dorma in his personal injury case, it would not be able to
represent the City in this claim. Mr. Asleson recommended the Council retain the
Horton and Langevin Law Firm as special legal counsel for this claim.

Judith Langevin, of Horton and Langevin, to represent it in the
