PRESENT: Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Chair Lee Strom; Committee Secretary Patrick Sullivan; Committee Members Kanika Gupta, Noel Hammill (arrived at 7:05 p.m.), and Brenton Schulz; Councilmember John Bergman; Parks and Recreation Director Barry Bernstein; Parks Superintendent Tom Adamini; Recreation Superintendent Scott Breuer; Valleywood Golf Course Manager Jim Zinck; Arena Manager Brian Christianson; Department Assistant Dorene Perkins Mann; two members of the public. ABSENT: Cindy Hart and Boyd Montgomery ITEM 1. Committee Chair Strom called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ITEM 2. Approval of Agenda Director Bernstein requested the addition of Item 5.J. —Staff Updates MOTION: by Sullivan, seconded by Schulz to approve the agenda with the addition of Item S.J.—Staff Updates VOTE: Yes—4, No—0 Audience— 10 Minutes Total Time Limit—For Items Not on the Agenda Chair Strom invited anyone present wishing to bring an item not on the agenda up for discussion to please step forward. No one stepped forward. ITEM 4. Approval of the November 2014, Minutes. MOTION: by Schulz, seconded by Gupta,to approve the November 6, 2014, meeting minutes as presented. VOTE: Yes—5, No—0 ITEM 5.A. Agenda Items—Cobblestone Lake Park South Director Bernstein presented a verbal update on the park completion progress. The park's play structure has been installed. - 1of3 - CITY OF APPLE VALLEY PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE January 15, 2015 IITEM 5. Agenda Items—Cobblestone Lake Park West Director Bernstein reported that he and Parks Superintendent Adamini have met with Traditions Development to discuss the beginning of the park planning process. ITEM S.C. Agenda Items—Cortland Development Park Director Bernstein announced staff's intention to host a neighborhood meeting to discuss potential features of the park. ITEM 5.D. Agenda Items—Mid-Winter Fest 2015 Recreation Superintendent Breuer presented Mid-Winter Fest 2015 information and invited everyone to participate February 8, 2015. ITEM S.E. Agenda Items—Valleywood Punch Cards Valleywood Golf Course Manager Zinck introduced Valleywood's intention to offer cart rental punch cards in 2015 and outlined the fees associated with the 10 pre-paid rental cards. ITEM 5.E. Agenda Items—Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Goals Director Bernstein requested input on any goals the Committee wished to pursue in 2015. Items of discussion included: a goal setting session with Committee and Staff; discussion of the future of Redwood Pool; park play structure equipment replacement schedule/plan, additional discussion of Kelley Park; designated circuit bike path; and conversation of a sports dome and turf surface. ITEM S.G. Agenda Items—County Road 42 Trail Director Bernstein reviewed the County Road 42 Trail plans outlined at the November 6, 2014, Committee meeting and reported the project is moving forward. IlTEM 5.I I. Agenda Items—Dakota County North Creek Greenway County Rd 38 Trail & Pedestrian Bridge Director Bernstein reviewed the Dakota County North Creek Greenway County Rd 38 Trail & Pedestrian Bridge plans outlined at the November 6, 2014, Committee meeting and reported the project is moving along according to the timeline and schedule presented at that meeting. - 2of3 - CITY OF APPLE VALLEY PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE January 15, 2015 ITEM 5.1. Agenda Items—St. Paul Growers Association Holiday/Winter Market Recreation Superintendent Breuer reported the St. Paul Growers Association Holiday/Winter Market has wrapped up for the season and plan to be back at Redwood Community Center next winter. The Association hopes to increase market traffic by promoting the event during the weekly Summer Farmers Market. ITEM 5.J. Agenda Items—Staff Updates Golf Course Manager Zinck announced the February 21, 2015 Valleywood Event&Tournament Showcase and upcoming"Frozen Apple" 2015 Concert Series. Recreation Superintendent Breuer gave a review of Recreation operations. Arena Manager Christianson reviewed Arena operations. Parks Superintendent Adamini reviewed the Maintenance Three Month List of Activities. ITEM 6. Adjourn There being no further business, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting was adjourned.
