HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/03/1977CITY OF APPLE VALLEY Dakota County, Minnesota January 3, 1977 Minutes of the special meeting of the City Council of Apple Valley, Dakota County, Minnesota, held January 3, 1977, at 7:00 o'clock p.m. PRESENT: Mayor Branning; Councilmembers Fitzsimmons, Hayes, Holton and Savanick; Clerk Asleson. ABSENT: None Cub Scout Troop No. 227 gave a flag presentation and the Councilmembers and everyone in attendance took part in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Clerk Asleson then gave the oaths of office to Mayor Branning and Councilmembers Fitzsimmons, Holton and Savanick who now took office. Mayor Branning called the meeting to order. MOTION: of Hayes, seconded by Holton, adopting Resolution No. 1977-1 auth- RES. 1977-1 orizing the use of facsimile signatures on City checks and pro- SIGNATURES ON viding for various signatures on other checks also. Ayes - 5 - DOCUMENTS Nays - 0. Mayor Branning noted, in past years, the position of Acting Mayor has been rotated among the various Councilmembers and said he recommends Councilmember Hayes for the position this year. MOTION: of Holton, seconded by Fitzsimmons, adopting Resolution No. 1977- RES. 1977-2 2 appointing Councilmember Hayes as Acting Mayor for 1977. ACTING MAYOR Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. MOTION: of Hayes, seconded by Holton, adopting Resolution No. 1977-3 designating the Dakota County Tribune as the official City news- paper for 1977. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. RES. 1977-3 OFFICIAL RES. 1977-4 OFFICIAL DEPOSITORY RES. 1977-5 OTHER OFFICIAL DEPOSITORIES MOTION: of Holton, seconded by Hayes, adopting Resolution No. 1977-4 designating the First State Bank of Apple Valley the 1977 official depository for payroll and checking accounts plus certificates of deposit with a collateralized deposit limit of $500,000 including F.D.I.C. insurance. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. MOTION: of Hayes, seconded by Savanick, adopting Resolution No. 1977-5 designating various banks and savings institutions as 1977 official depositories with a maximum deposit at each not to exceed $100,000. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. The Council discussed holding its meetings on various other nights of the week rather than Wednesdays and tabled the discussion until the first regular meeting, Wednesday January i2th, 1977. Mayor Branning asked the Council to call a special informal meeting to discuss various items of business. MOTION: of Savanick, seconded by Holton, setting a special informal meet- SPECIAL MEETING ing on Wednesday, January 5th, 1977, at 7:30 p~m. in the City Hall offices. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. MOTION: of Holton, seconded by Hayes, to adjourn. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. The meeting was adjourned at 7:23 o'clock p.m.
