HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/03/1974CITY OF APPLE VALLEY Dakota County, Minnesota October 5, 1974 Minutes of a special meeting of the City Council of Apple Valley, Dakota County Minnesota, held on October 3rd, 1974, at 6:45 o'clock p.m. PRESERT: Mayor Largen; Councilmen Branning, Garrison and Holton; Clerk Asleson. ABSENT: Councilman Cozine. Mayor Largen called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. The City Engineer, Robert Rosene presented bid tabulations for Projects 74-73, 74-61, and 72-21 (Galaxie Pathway, 140th Street from Cedar to Garden View Drive and Fairgreen Avenue from County Road 42 to north of Ellice Trail, respectively). M0TION: of Holton, seconded by Branning, adopting Resolution No. 1974-158 awarding Project 74-73 to Northwest Bituminous Company, the low bidder, in the amount of $27,230.00 which excludes the guardrail bid items. Ayes - 4 - Nays - O. RES. 1974-158 AWARD PROJECT 74-7.3 BIDS MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Branning, adopting Resolution No. 1974-159 RES. 1974-159 awarding the Project 74-61 bid to Sullivan Construction, the low AWARD PROJECT bidder, in the amount of $92,812.00 Ayes - 4 - Nays ~ O. ~4-61 BIDS MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Garrison, adopting Resolution No. 1974-160 RES. 1974-160 awarding the Project 72-21 bid to Fischer Construction Company, ~ARD BIDS the low bidder, in the amount of $176,338.48. Ayes - 4 - Nays - 0 PROJECT 72-21 Mr. Rosene informed the Council he would present Change Orders, at a future meeting, on Projects 74-61 and 72-21 to provide additional gravel for street base from a width of 44 feet to 52 feet and would amount to approximately $2,000.00 for each project. MOTION: of Holton, seconded by Branning, to appoint Leroy Palm as Civil Defense Director effective 0ctober. l, 1974 at a monthly salary of $50.00. Ayes ~ 4 - Nays - O. APPOINT CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTO[ MOTION: of Branning seconded by Holton to approve hiring as pool employees POOL EMPLOYEE~ Douglas Anderson and Karla Viland at rates established in Resolution No. 1974-72 and Mark Anderson at $4.00 per hour and Paula Lureman at $4.25 per hour, both for a period of approximately three weeks be- ginning October 7th, 1974. Ayes - 4 ~ Nays - O. MOTION: of Holton, seconded by Branning, to adjourn. Ayes - 4 - Nays - O. The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 o'clock p.m.
