Minutes of the meeting of the City Council of Apple Valley, Dakota County, Minnesota,
held on October 9th, 1974, at 7:30 o'clock p;m.
PRESENT: Mayor Largen; Councilmen Branning, Cozine, Holton and Garrison (attending until
10:lO p.m.); Clerk Asleson.
ABSENT: None.
Mayor Largen called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock p.m. All residents attending
took part in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Councilman Garrison gave the
invocation.

John Gretz showed the location of a proposed 7-11 Store on the northwest corner of
Galaxie Avenue and 14Oth Street. The Planning Commission's and Architectural Committee's
recommendations were discussed also.: It was noted the property was zoned B-2 in 1968
and the Mayor questioned whether the City's Comprehensive Plan, which shows residential
property suggested there, might take precedence over previous zoning. The Attorney felt
he could not comment on that now, but would have to research it. Kenneth Kline, a resi-
dent of Galway Court, presented a petition signed by many area residents opPosing the
location of a store in that area.

The Mayor stated a meeting has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m. October 17th, 1974, at the
Metropolitan Sewer Board offices with Mr. Dougherty and representatives from Burnsville
and Apple Valley to discuss the communities' joint powers agreement.

A representative of Hanmlel, Green & Abrahamson, architects for the School District
preparing plans for the high school and ice arena was present. Preliminary plans
for the buildings will be reviewed by the Council October 23rd.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Cozine directing the Engineer to prepare PRELIM. REPORT

Road 42 to 140th Street and 145th Street from Hayes Road to exist-

MOTION: of Cozine seconded by Holton, to authorize hiring Kim Myers as an HIRE
