Minutes of the meeting of the Village Council, Village of Apple Valley, Dakota County,
Minnesota held February 21, 1973.
PRESENT: Mayor Largen; Councilmen Garrison, Goodoien, Branning and Pearsall (attended
at 7:30) and DepUty Clerk Viveiros
ABSENT: None
The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Branning, to approve the minutes of the meeting of
February 7, 1973 as written. Ayes - 4 - Nays - O.
Representatives Pieper and Kempe discussed with the Council their bill to the legis-
lature requesting construction of a new Cedar Avenue bridge.
MOTION: of Goodoien, seconded by Branning, to adopt Resolution 1973-27 on the Cedar
Avenue bridge incorporating by reference Resolution 1973-24, with the add-
itional statement that there will be no environmental damage from the con-
struction of this new bridge, end slso including infromation regarding pop-
ulation, projected growth, and the zoo. Ayes - 5 - Nays ~ O.
Discussion with Representatives Pieper and Kempe on split liquor bill.
January Fire Marshal's Report received.
January water and sewer report received.
February 9, 1973 letter from School District 196 received.
February 16, 1973 letter from Repr. Kempe re Co. Rd. 40 received.
Valley Laundromat cigarette license application held until next week.
MOTION: of Goodoien, seconded by Pearsall, to authorize the remodeling of the Council
Chambers in an amount not to exceed $2,500. Ayes ~ 5 - Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Pearsall, seconded by Goodoien, to authorize the hiring of David Ekern
as water and sewer maintenauce man, at a monthly salary of $700.00. Ayes -
5 - Nays - O.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Garrison, to pass Resolution 1973-26, receiving
funds from the State and authorize signing of receipt. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Branning, authorizing the Administrator to contact
the Highway Dept. requesting signing indication for Apple Valley on 35W~
going both North and South. Ayes - 5 - Neys ~ O.
Councilman Goodoien reported that Officer Moody was giving First Aid courses to the
Firemen.
MOTION: of Goodoien, seconded by Garrison, to adjourn. Unanimously carried.
