Minutes of .the meeting-of the Village Council, Village of Apple ValleY, Dakota
County, Minnesota, held May 10, 1972.
PRESENT: Councilmen Garrison, Hollenbeck and Pearsall; Clerk Asleson.
ABSENT: Mayor Largen and councilman Branning
Acting Mayor Pearsall called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. All residents
took part in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
Minutes
MOTION of Garrison, seConded by Hollenbeck to approve the minutes of the
meeting of April 19, 1972, as written. Ayes - 3, Nays - 0.
Old Business
Greeoleaf 5th Addition Street Lighting Proposal. Council approved plan and
instructed Building Inspector to negotiate contract.
Valley Commercial Park 2nd Addition.
MOTION: of Hollenbeck, seconded by Garrison, to pass Resolution 1972-66, in-
structing the Attorney to draw resolution ordering the preliminary plans
for Valley Commercial Park 2nd Addition. Ayes - 3~Nays - O.
MOTION: of H0llnbeck, seconded by Pearsall, to pass Resolution 1972-67 re:
Burnsville Crosstown with letter regarding construction included.
Ayes - 2, Nays - 1 (Garrison).
Councilman Hollenbeck said he now had all the members of the golf committee.
They are Ken Wendeln, Loren Hegland, Jerry Bell and John Viveiros. Councilman
Hollenbeck is the chairman. They will have a recommendation for the Council at
the meeting of May 24th He recommends we publish notice of this in the paper.
There was discussion on the crosswalks across C.R. 42. The Police Chief has
been working on this with the County Traffic Engineer.

Public Hearing - Lapaz Addition Water & Sewer Improvements - Acting Mayor Pearsall
called the hearing to order at 8:15 p.m. Affidavit of publication noted. The
Engineer described the improvements. There being no further discussion, the
hearing was declared closed at 8:25 p.m.
MOTION: Of Garrison, seconded by Hollenbeck, to pass Resolution 1972-68, order-
ing the improvements for sewer, water and storm sewer for the Lapaz
Addition. Ayes - 3, Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Hollenbeck, seconded by Garrison, to pass ResOlution 1972- 68, author-
izing the Engineer to advertise for bids for water and sewer extensions
to the Lapaz Addition; bid opening to be held on June 9, 1972, at 2:00 p.m.
Ayes - 3, Nays - O.
New Business
Planning Commission minutes of April 19, 1972, received.
Report on snowplowing received.
Gross Payroll Report for May 5, 1972 received.
MOTION: of Hollenbeck, seconded by Garrison, to pass ResolutiOn 1972-70, authorizing
the Building Inspector to enforce Village ordinances. Ayes - 3, Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Hollenbeck, to charge the School District a fee
of $1.00 plus the State Tax based on valuation for the new shipping and
receiving building permitJ Ayes - 3, Nays - O.
Building Inspection Report for April received.
Discussion on installation of gravel base at new public works garage.
MOTION: of Hollenbeck seconded by Garrison, to authorize to work be given to the
lowest of three quotations to be received. Ayes - 3, Nays - Oo
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Pearsall to approve issuance of a cigarette
license to Country Kitchen thru December 31~ 1972. Ayes - 2, Nays - 1
(Hollenbeck).
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Pearsall, to grant the variance to the Coast-to-
Coast Store authorizing them to erect a second sign similar to the front
one on the south side of the store. Ayes - 2, Nays - i (Hollenbeck).
Claims and Bills
MOTION: of Hollenbeck, seconded by Garrison, to authorize payment of the claims
and bills, checks # 4053 through # 4116 in the amount of $61,606.26. Ayes -
3, Nays - O.
Planning commission Items
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Pearsall, to pass Resolution 1972-71 setting a
public hearing on an amendment to Ordinence 22 (zoning ordinance ) for June
7, 1972, with the proviso that if Attorney McMenomy determines that this
can be changed by resolution, we do not advertise for a public hearing.
Ayes - 3, Nays - O.
MOTION: Of Hollenbeck, seconded by Pearsall, to adjourn. Unanimously carried.
