HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969/04/30 VILLAGE OF APPLE VALLEY Dakota County, Minnesota Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Village Council, Village of Apple Valley held on April 30, 1969 at 7:30 p.m. PRESENT: Mayor Largen Councilmen: Pearsall and Hollenbeck Deputy Clerk Joyce Viveiros ABSENT: Councilmen Garrison and Branning The Mayor declared the Public Hearing on Scott Highlands 3rd and 4th Additions open at 7:40 p.m. Engineer Bob Rosene explained the projects and answered questions. The hearing was closed at 8:05 p.m. MOTION: of Pearsall, seconded by Hollenbeck, that the bid be awarded to Austin P. Keller, Inc. in the amount of $405,338.30 per the recommendations of the Village Engineer. Motion duly carried. MOTION: of Largen, seconded by Pearsall, that Joyce Viveiros be appointed as Temporary Clerk until May 12, 1969, when the new Administrator will be able to assume the duties. Motion carried. Charles Johnson, Justice of the Peace, swore her in. Mayor Largen read a proposed ordinance combining the offices of Clerk and Treasurer. MOTION: of Pearsall, seconded by Hollenbeck, that the office of Clerk-Treasurer be combined, per the attached resolution. Motion duly carried. MOTION: of Hollenbeck, seconded by Pearsall, that Curtis E. OLsen be appointed as Clerk-Treasurer to become effective May 12, 1969. Motion carried. MOTION: by Pearsall, seconded by Hollenbeck, that we oil and grade Reflection Road as soon as possible. Motion carried. MOTION: by Hollenbeck, seconded by Pearsall, that we ask our attorney to draft an ordinance stating that Village elections be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November, beginning November of 1969. Motion duly carried. (Per p. 181 - Village Handbook, Election Day Procedures) MOTION: of Pearsall, seconded by Largen, to have a Public Hearing on May 22, 1969 at 7:30 p.m. for Sewer Trunk, Lateral and Lift Station for Palomino Lakeshore, Palomino 4th Addition and the proposed Country Club Addition. Motion carried. MOTION: of Largen, seconded by Hollenbeck and Pearsall that we adjourn at 9:10 p.m. /q~9-~~~ R E S O L U T I O N RESOLVED, that effective beginning May 12th, 1969, CURTIS OLSEN shall be, and .hereby is, designated and appointed as the Clerk-Treasurer of the Village of Apple Valley, Dakota County, Minnesota. j ~~~~5 Extract of Minutes of Meeting of Village Council of the Village of Apple Valley Dakota,Cbunty, Minnesota Held April 30th, 1869 A regular meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Apple Va11;ey,Dakota County, Minnesota, was duly held at the Municipal Building in said Village on April 30, 1969 at 7:30 P.M. The following members were present: Largen, Pearsall, ~ Hollenbeck and= and the following were absent: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for sanitary sewer, storn sewer and water main extensions in Scott Highlands Third Addition, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law and the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Austin P, Keller Construction Co. $405,338.30 Orfie Sons, .Inc, $411,855.65 Peter Lametti Construction Co. $413,592.3© Chapman ~ Doonan, a Joint Venture $414,830.00 Phelps-Drake Co., Inc. $425,167.75 Barbarossa ~ Sons, Inc. $427,807.50 Sandstrom ~ Hafner, Inc. $441,635,Op F, Morettini. Contracting Inc. $449,364.00 Lametti ~ Sons, Inc. $460,266.00 Erwin Montgomery Construction Co. $491,388.20 Walbon Excavating Co. $$10,167.00 AND ~~VI-IEREAS, it appears that Austin P. Keller Construction Co. of St. Paul, Minnesota, is the lowest responsible bidder. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF APPLE VALLEY, DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA: 1. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Austin P, Keller Construction Co. of St. Paul, Minnesota, in the name of Apple Valley for the completion of sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main extensions in Scott Highlands Third Addition according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the Village Council and on file in the office of the Village Clerk. 2. The Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, Y except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed. Adopted by the Village Council this 30th day of April, 1869.
