Minutes of the meeting of the Village Council, Village of Apple Valley Dakota County
Minnesota held July 26, 1972.
PRESENT: Mayor Largen; Councilmen Garrison and Branning, Clerk Asleson
ABSENT: Councilmen Hollenbeck and Pearsall
The Mayor called the meeting to order at 9:00 p.m.
John Voss described the proposal his firm had made for the overall plan of the Valley
Commercial Park area.
Proposed addition to Granada Center discussed.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Branning, to table Model Stone rezoning to August
23rd meeting, as the law required four Council members to be present for
action, Ayes - 3 - Nays - 0.
Planning Commission minutes of July 5 1972 received.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Garrison to approve Resolution #1972-117 granting
a conditional use permit for parking cars on the Frank Dorniden property,
as per signed agreement. Ayes - 3 - Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Garrison, to pass Resolution #1972-115, setting a
publid hearing for August 23, 1972, at 8:30 p.m., to consider the respreading
of the assessment roll for Palomino Hills 4th Addition for an additional
three years. Ayes - 3 - Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Garrison, to pass Resolution # 1972-116, setting a
public hearing for September 6, 1972, at 8:45 p.m. for consideration of the
vacation of 30 feet street right-of-way adjacent to Cedar Avenue at NW and
SW corners of 147th Street. Ayes - 3 - Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Branning to increase the liquor store manager's
salary to $1040.00 per month, effective July 16, 1972. Ayes - 3 - Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Branning, to increase the utilities superintendant's
salary to $1,040.00 per month effective July 1, 1972. Ayes - 3 - Nays 0.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Branning, to accept the Planning Commission's recom-
mendation and adopt Resolution 1972-118, approving Conditional Use Permit for
Standard Oil Company for a 20 year period, subject to annual review thereafter
and also subject to staff approval of the landscaping plan. This is for
joint operation of gas pumps and car wash. Ayes - 3 - Nays - 0.
Joint Study of the Metro Council and Metro Sewer Board on Cost Allocation System of the
Metro Disposal System. Discussion on draft of letter to above from Apple Valley
Council.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Garrison, to authorize the Mayor to write a letter,
which is to be read into the record at the joint Study meeting of July 27th
by the Village Adminstrator. Ayes - 3 - Nays - 0.

MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Branning, to approve the minutes of July 12th as
read and of July 19th as corrected. Ayes - 3 - Nays - 0.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Garrison, to pay the claims and bills; check
#4504 thru #4581, in the amount of $17,763.64. Ayes - 3 - Nays - O.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Garrison, to adjourn. Unanimously carried.
