Minutes of the duly called special meeting of the Village Council of the Village of
Apple Valley held on October 10, 1972,at the Village Hall ;in said Village.
PRESENT: Councilmen Pearsall, Garrison, Branning and Hollenbeck (attended at 8:00 p.m.)
Clerk Asleson, John Gretz, Richard Tuthill, James Reemts, and Gene Glenn.
ABSENT: Mayor Largen
No other people were in attendence.
Acting Mayor Pearsall called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
Mr. Pearsall then proceeded to review With other members of the Council and others
in attendence the proposed budget and tax levy for taxes payable in 1973.
Councilman Hollenbeck attended at this time.
Dick Tuthill and Jim Reemts were present to discuss the wages of the Fire Department
officers as well as to review the proposal of the Fire Department to purchase a car
to be used by the officers of the Fire Department to be equipped with red lights,
siren,· etc. With respect to the salaries, it was agreed that the Fire Chief and
Fire Marshal would start immediately to prepare for the Council monthly reports of
their activities and to take up the question of the officer's salaries in the near
future, but not later than January 1, 1973. With respect to the Fire Department car
it was agreed that when the private cars of firemen are used for Fire Department bus-
iness, they should submit claims to the Village for mileage reimbursement and the
need for a car because of radio communication would be met in the near future when the
radios for the Assistant Chiefs' cars arrive and at such time as the current gold
squad is to be no longer used for Police service, if its condition is such that
it is usable by the Fire Department the Council will consider the car question at
that time.
MOTION: of Hollenbeck, seconded by Branning to adopt Resolution 1972-160, a
resolution approving the 1972 tax levy for taxes collectible in 1973.

MOTION: of Hollenbeck, seconded by Garrison, to adjourn. Ayes - 4 - Nays - 0.
Meeting adjourned at 8:16 p.m.
