Minutes of Special Meeting of the Village Council, Village of Apple Valley held on
January 14, 1971 at 4:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Mayor Largen; Councilmen Branning, Garrison and Pearsall; Administrator Olsen
ABSENT: Councilman Hollenbeck
The Council reviewed a proposed Park Development brochure estimated to cost approximately
$1,000. for 2,500.
MOTION: of Garrison seconded by Branning, to authorize preparation of Park Development
brochure at an estimated cost of $1,000. On vote, carried.
MOTION: of Branning, seconded by Pearsall, that Juran and Moody be authorized to prepare
a financial feasibility report on proposed park development bond issue and
authorization for the Village Attorney to prepare park bond issue referendum
resolution for consideration by the Village Council January 27, 1971. On vote~
carried.
Recommendations of the Planning Commission to schedule public hearings on February 3,
1971 were received as follows:
1. Rezoning the east ½ of the NW~ of Section 26- McNamara-Vivant property, from Agri-
culture to Industrial.
2. Rezoning to Sand and Gravel District (S.G.), the NW~ of Section 26 for a period of
15 years. McNamara-Vivant property.
3. Amendment to Ordinance No. 22 regulating the installation of pipelines (copy attached).
4. Amendment to Ordinance No. 22 (Section 10) to permit 1/2-store below-grade townhouse
unite (Copy attached).
5. Subdivision hearings, Green Leaf Townhouse 1st Addition.
6. Subdivision hearings, Green Leaf Townhouse 2nd Addition.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Pearsall, that public hearing specified above be
ordered. On vote, carried.
At 6:00 p.m. Councilman Hollenbeck attended.
The Village Council was advised of scheduled meetings as follows:
1. Ad hoc zoo committee meeting January 20th, 3:30 p.m., Eagan Town Hall.
2. Joint meeting with County Board regarding Burnsville Crosstown January 19th 3:30 pom.,
Apple Valley Village Hall.
A cursory review of proposed future road improvements was held.
MOTION: of Garrison, seconded by Pearsall, that the Village Engineer prepare preliminary
reports on the extension of Galaxie Avenue improvements from Lehman Road north to
CR-38 and from the southern boundary of the Scott Highlands Additions south to
CR-42. On vote, carried.
The Council set Wednesday morning as a work session on proposed road improvements.
MOTION: of Pearsall, seconded by Hollenbeck, that the bills presented be paid. On
vote, carried.
