Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Arthur Zimmerman. Members Present: Linda Dolan, Charles Grawe, Joe Shaw, Arthur Zimmerman Members Absent: Nick Francis, Fred Puente, Matt Saam Consultants/Alternates Present: Aaron Kellas, Civil Engineer, Peter Matos, Police Sergeant Others Present: Matthew Bellin, Jack Tranby, Sandy Tranby, Wade Tranby, Wyatt Tranby 2. Approval of Agenda _ Mr. Shaw said he had an item to cover under Educational Issues. MOTION: Mr. Grawe moved, second by Mr. Shaw to approve the agenda as amended. Motion passed 4-0. 3. Audience Items An audience member asked a question about how traffic laws are interpreted and enforced by police officers. Mr. Matos agreed to talk with the resident outside of the meeting as the subject was not germane to the Committee. 4. Approval of March 8, 2017 Minutes MOTION: Ms. Dolan moved, second by Mr. Grawe, to approve the Minutes of March 8, 2017. Motion passed 3-0. (Mr. Shaw Abstained) 5A. Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Crossing Signage on Embry Path at 152nd Street Mr. Kellas proposed a bump-out at a pedestrian crossing on Embry Path. He noted that the City has already been receiving complaints about traffic even though the road has not yet been constructed to Pilot Knob and many of the homes along the road have yet to be built. Members of the Committee expressed concern about future traffic concerns if people use Embry as a cut- through route between County Road 42 and 1551' Street. MOTION: Ms. Dolan moved, second by Mr. Zimmerman, that the Committee recommends installing the recommended bump-out and pedestrian signage and that staff attempt to work with the developer to participate in funding. Motion passed 4-0. 5B. Speed Advisory Signage on Pennock Avenue Mr. Kellas said the temporary signs have been installed on Pennock Avenue. 5C. Garden View Speed Advisory Signage Updates Mr. Kellas said the permanent signs on Garden View Drive are no longer fully functional due to the age of the software in them. He noted that the signs would likely require replacement in the near future. 6A.Other Traffic Concerns Communicated to the City of Apple Valley Police Concerns Mr. Matos said the commercial vehicle inspector participated in a saturation event in April. Mr. Matos said the Cell-slips were given to the school resource offices to be distributed in driver's education classes. Mr. Matos noted complaints about illegal left-hand turn movements into the Wal Mart parking lot at Pennock Avenue and 1491i Street. Public Works Concerns There were no new Public Works concerns. 6B.Educational Issues Grant Opportunities Ms. Dolan presented the grant of 100 Cellslips at a City Council meeting. Ms. Dolan announced a safe driving campaign in July. Ms. Shaw suggested having a table at the Kelley Park concerts for one event in the summer. 7. Adjourn MOTION: Mr. Grawe moved, second by Mr. Shaw, to adjourn. Motion passed 4 - 0. Meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
