HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/18/2011 MINUTES OF LEBANON CEMETERY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING January 18, 2011- 2:00 p.m. Apple Valley Municipal Center COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Nancy Anderson, Noel Hammill, Alan Kohls, Paula Moore, Gary Wagner COMMITTEE MEMBERS ABSENT: David Brueshoff, Dave Kemp OTHERS PRESENT: Public Works Director Todd Blomstrom Cemetery Supervisor Mike Glewwe Cemetery/Public Works Coordinator Jean Bryant The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF AGENDA MOTION: of Anderson, seconded by Hammill, approving the agenda for today's meeting as written. Motion passed unanimously. AUDIENCE —10 MINUTES TOTAL TIME LIMIT FOR ITEMS NOT ON THIS AGENDA It was noted that Floyd Berg died and was buried in Lebanon Cemetery. Mr. Berg served the cemetery for many years. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — October 19, 2010 MOTION: of Wagner, seconded by Anderson, approving the minutes of the October 19, 2010, meeting, as written. Motion passed unanimously. NEW/CONTINUED BUSINESS Cemetery Advisory Committee Term Egpirations — March 1, 2011 Expiring terms are Nancy Anderson, David Brueshoff, and Alan Kohls. Update Committee Member Addresses and Phone Numbers There were no changes. Update Informed Consent and Release Form There were no changes. Activity Report Ms. Bryant reviewed the Lebanon Cemetery Activity Report for fourth quarter and 2010, the Quarter Activity Comparison, and Lot Sales and Burials Since 1990. Maintenance and Grounds Mr. Glewwe reported that maintenance at the cemetery has consisted of plowing the road, keeping the columbaria area clear of snow, and blowing snow to clear areas for burials. Cemetery Master Plan The Committee reviewed and discussed the report "Master Plan for Expansion." MOTION: of Wagner, seconded by Anderson, directing staff to present the updated Master Plan for Lebanon Cemetery to City Council for their consideration. Motion passed unanimously. Accept 2010 Cemetery Report The "2010 Cemetery Report" memo to City Council was reviewed by the Committee. MOTION: by Hammill, seconded by Anderson, to accept the 2010 Cemetery Report and submit it to City Council. Motion passed unanimously. 2011 Goals The 2011 goals were accepted as presented. Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Mr. Blomstrom informed the Committee that there are few ash trees in Lebanon Cemetery so EAB should not present a substantial impact to the existing tree inventory. Registry of Burials The Committee decided not to pursue a registry. OTHER BUSINESS Winter 2011 City News Article "Lebanon Cemetery: A Place for Remembrance" was published in the Winter Cit,� s.
