NEW/CONTINUED BUSINESS
Activity Report
Ms. Bryant reviewed the Lebanon Cemetery Activity Report for second quarter. There were
6 lot sales in the second quarter: all were to residents; 2 sales were preneed and 4 were at
need. There were no niche sales, and 3 companion boulder sales. There were 10 burials, of
which 5 were traditional and 5 were cremations. There were 3 transfers, no title changes, and
no returns of lots to the Cemetery.
Maintenance and Grounds
Mr. Glewwe reported that cemetery maintenance has included top dressing and hydro-
seeding of settled graves and ruts made while digging grave sites, touching up wood chips
around trees, routine mowing and fertilizing, removal of unapproved memorials, and
weeding and trimming plantings. The Apple Seeds, a local 4H group, planted the flowers
under the flag poles. Damaged spots in the asphalt were removed and patched, followed
by crack sealing and chip sealing of the asphalt.
Review Web Site
Ms. Bryant opened the City web site and reviewed the Lebanon Cemetery pages with the
Committee. The site contains information on the Cemetery Advisory Committee,
including meeting agendas and minutes. Cemetery information, burial options, and costs
are posted.
2010 Budget — Capital Outlay
Mr. Glewwe reviewed the capital outlay items in the 2010 budget. The pavement in the
cemetery has been crack sealed and seal coated, and three benches for the columbaria area
are on order. In order to include changes made with the updating of the master plan, the
parking area plantings and irrigation installation are being moved to next year's budget.
Master Plan Update
Ms. Bryant reported Sanders, Wacker, Bergly, Inc., has provided burial projections for
2110, which was Task 1 of the scope of services. Based on having 2-3% of Dakota County
burials and a 50 percent cremation rate, their recommendation is to include 8,500 total
additional burials in the master plan, with 3,500 being full size traditional sites and 5,000
cremation sites. Staff requested the consultant prepare options for the master plan and
present them to the Cemetery Committee at the meeting on October 19, 2010.
