CALL TO ORDER The City of Apple Valley Planning Commission Meeting was called to order by Chair Burke at 7:00 p.m. Members Present: Tim Burke, David Schindler, Paul Scanlan, Philip Mahowald, Becky Sandahl Member(s) Absent: Jodi Kurtz, Keith Diekmann City staff members attending: Community Development Director Bruce Nordquist, Planner Alex Sharpe. Planner Kathy Bodmer, Public Works Director Matt Saam, and Department Assistant Breanna Vincent were uninvited from this meeting due to the severe weather forecasts. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Chair Burke asked if there were any changes to the agenda. CD Director Nordquist advised that there are some changes due to severe weather forecasts this evening. These changes include: • No action being taken on consent agenda items this evening. • Opening the public hearing on U-Haul and continuing to January 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. • Opening the public hearing on Cowboy Jacks and continuing to January 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. • All land use items will be considered January 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. MOTION: Commissioner Schindler moved, seconded by Commissioner Scanlan, approving the agenda. Roll call vote: Ayes - 5 – Nays - 0. 3. CONSENT ITEMS No action taken this evening. 4. PUBLIC HEARING A. U-Haul Apple Valley CITY OF APPLE VALLEY Dakota County, Minnesota Planning Commission Minutes December 15, 2021 Page 2 of 3 Chair Burke opened the public hearing and asked for a motion continuing the public hearing to January 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. MOTION: Commissioner Scanlan moved, seconded by Commissioner Schindler, to continue the public hearing to January 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes – 5 – Nays – 0. B. Cowboy Jacks PD-290 Amendment Chair Burke opened the public hearing. MOTION: Commissioner Scanlan moved, seconded by Commissioner Schindler, to continue the public hearing to January 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes – 5 – Nays – 0. 5. LAND USE MOTION: Chair Burke moved, seconded by Commissioner Scanlan, to move all other business including land use items to January 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes – 5 – Nays – 0. 6. OTHER BUSINESS A. Planning Commissioners Guide This item to be discussed at the January 5, 2022 meeting at 7:00 p.m. B. Review of Upcoming Schedule and Other Updates The next Planning Commission meeting is Wednesday, January 5, 2022, 7:00 p.m. The next City Council meeting is Tuesday, December 21, 2021, 7:00 p.m. 6. ADJOURNMENT Chair Burke asked for a motion to adjourn. MOTION: Commissioner Schindler moved, seconded by Chair Burke, to adjourn the meeting at 7:06 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes – 5 – Nays – 0.
