HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/25/2000ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY City of Apple Valley Dakota County, Minnesota May 25, 2000 Minutes of the special meeting of the Economic Development Authority of Apple Valley, Dakota County, Minnesota, held May 25th, 2000, at 7:00 o’clock a.m., at Apple Valley City Hall. PRESENT: President Severson; Commissioners Erickson, Grendahl, Hamann-Roland, and Sterling. ABSENT: Commissioners Edgeton and Goodwin. Staff members present were: Executive Director Lawell, Secretary Mueller, Assistant to the City Administrator Grawe, and Community Development Director Kelley. President Severson called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. APPROVAL OF AGENDA MOTION: of Erickson, seconded by Grendahl, approving the agenda for today’s meeting as presented. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. MINUTES MOTION: of Erickson, seconded by Grendahl, approving the minutes of the special meeting of February 10th, 2000, as written. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. PURCHASE AGREEMENTS FOR PROPERTY IN VALLEY BUSINESS PARK Mr. Kelley reviewed his memos dated May 22, 2000, describing two purchase agreements submitted for property the EDA owns in Valley Business Park. The sites are on Outlots A and B intended to be replatted as Valley Business Park 2nd Addition. Both sales are based on $1.75 per square foot. Ronald Clexton is offering to purchase a 2.2-acre parcel (future Lot 1, Block 1) for a photography studio. An initial 10,000 square foot building is proposed, designed for expansion to 20,000 square feet as required in a BP zone. M & M Partnership is offering to purchase a 2.9-acre parcel (future Lot 2, Block 1) for a carpet showroom/sales facility and cultural congregate hall. It is separately considering purchasing an adjoining parcel, which now has a single family home, on County Road 42. Resolution No. EDA-00-2 MOTION: o f Hamann-Roland, seconded by Erickson, adopting approving a purchase agreement with Ronald Clexton to acquire 2.2 acres of Outlot B, Valley Business Park (to be replatted as Lot 1, Block 1, Valley Business Park 2nd Addition) at a price of $167,706.00, for a photography studio building, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY City of Apple Valley Dakota County, Minnesota May 25, 2000 Page 2 and authorizing the President and Secretary to execute the necessary documents. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. Resolution No. EDA-00-3 MOTION: of Erickson, seconded by Hamann-Roland, adopting approving a purchase agreement with M & M Partnership to acquire 2.9 acres of Outlot B, Valley Business Park (to be replatted as Lot 2, Block 1, Valley Business Park 2nd Addition) at a price of $221,067.00, for a carpet showroom/sales facility and a cultural congregate hall, and authorizing the President and Secretary to execute the necessary documents. Commissioner Hamann-Roland asked how a cultural congregate hall use fits into a BP zone and what provisions there are for it continuing as initially approved? Mr. Kelley said it is considered a commercial recreation use which is permitted as a conditional use in a BP zone. The City would have to approve a conditional use permit for it that would define its operation Vote was taken on the motion. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. MOTION: of Hamann-Roland, seconded by Erickson, to adjourn. Ayes - 5 - Nays - 0. The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 o’clock a.m.
