5. NEW/CONTINUED BUSINESS
A. Memorial Shelter Update –Mr. Saam discussed the progress made since the cemetery
committee last met. The building of the shelter is complete and a beautiful addition to
the cemetery. Photos of the completed shelter were provided to committee members.
The shelter is now available for families to use for interments that take place during
inclement weather. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be scheduled with council, the private
donor and the cemetery committee this year in the spring of 2022.
B. 2022 Goals
New Columbarium – Mr. Lathrop reported to the committee that the existing four
columbaria has low inventory of niches available for purchase by interested cemetery
patrons. Due to this, staff is working with vendors to develop a design plan and receive
quotes for a series of new columbaria near the memorial burial shelter. This new columbaria
is planned to be installed on the south side of the shelter and will have a different design
aesthetic than is present in the existing four columbaria.
New Spruce Trees – Mr. Lathrop communicated to the committee that Staff plans to add
more trees to the existing row of spruce trees on the berm on the south side of the cemetery.
Several area residents have requested that more trees are planted to complete the current
line of trees and this is planned to be completed in 2022.
MOTION: of J. Hoekstra seconded by D. Brueshoff approving the proposed 2022 Goals.
C. Maintenance Update – Mr. Lathrop reported that several burials have taken place in the
last few months. Snow and ice have caused the need for multiple plowing events at the
cemetery, which typically take place same day. There has been some ice accumulation
around the shelter during these events that the crew is aware of and looking at the best
options for resolution.
D. 4th Quarter Activity Report
MOTION: of D. Brueshoff seconded by N. Anderson approving the 4th Quarter Activity Report
