PRESENT: Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Chair Lee Strom; Committee Secretary Patrick Sullivan; Committee Members Noel Hammill, Cindy Hart, Darrell Retka, and Brenton Schulz; Parks and Recreation Director Barry Bernstein; Parks Superintendent Tom Adamini; Department Assistant Dorene Perkins Monn; Faulk & Foster Project Manager Joe Egge; and 4 residents of the Cobblestone Lake Park neighborhood. ABSENT: None ITEM 1. Committee Chair Strom called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ITEM 2. Approval of Agenda MOTION: by Retka, seconded by Sullivan to approve the agenda as presented. VOTE: Yes – 6, No – 0 Audience – 10 Minutes Total Time Limit – For Items Not on the Agenda Chair Strom invited anyone present wishing to bring an item not on the agenda up for discussion to please step forward. Suzanne Nelson addressed the Committee stating her concerns regarding the potential placement of a half-court basketball play area in the Cobblestone Lake Park South. She requested it not be placed in the park. Ian Peterson, representing Pulte Homes homeowners association, supported Ms. Nelson’s request that the basketball play area not be placed in the Cobblestone Lake Park South. ITEM 4. Approval of the Minutes for June 10, 2013, Minutes. MOTION: by Sullivan, seconded by Hammill, to approve the June 10, 2013, meeting minutes as presented. VOTE: Yes – 6, No – 0 ITEM 5. Agenda Items – Verizon Communications Antennae Proposal for Wallace Park Faulk & Foster Project Manager Joe Egge presented Verizon Wireless’s request for a Right-of- Entry into Wallace Park. The purpose of the Right-of-Entry would be to conduct a site - 1 of 2 - CITY OF APPLE VALLEY PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE August 29, 2013 assessment evaluating the property as the potential location of a 100 ft. communications cell tower. Site plan, easement requirements, and photo examples of possible tower designs were presented. If the Right-of-Entry is approved by City Council, the Committee and Staff directed Project Manager Egge to provide information on any significant loss of trees with a diameter of two inches or greater. MOTION: by Retka, seconded by Schulz, recommending City Council authorization of the Faulk & Foster, representing Verizon Wireless, Right-of-Entry into Wallace Park as presented. VOTE: Yes – 5, No – 1 (Hart) ITEM 6. Adjourn There being no further business, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting was adjourned.
