New Business - Private golf cart usage at Valleywood Golf
Course.
Copies of Rick Dodge’s memo to Randy Johnson regarding the
private cart usage at Valleywood was distributed to the
Committee members. Main topics of concern discussed were the
liability factor and revenue losses to the City by allowing the
private carts at Valleywood.
Currently there are seven carts stored and one transported daily
at Valleywood during the season. Four of the owners are Apple
Valley residents. These patrons are season pass holders, and
have been at the course in excess of five years. They have been
grandfathered in. Other requests to store private carts at
Valleywood have been denied.
Upwards of 80% of the Metro golf courses do not allow private
carts. Cart rental is the second source of revenue for the golf
course after green fees.
2
MOTION: by Russ DeFauw, seconded by Charlie Maus to
recommend termination of the allowance of
private golf carts to be used and/or stored at
Valleywood Golf Course effective immediately for
implementation for the upcoming season.
ADDENDUM: Recommend authorizing Valleywood Golf Course
Manager Rick Dodge to offer reduced rates for
cart rental during the upcoming season as a good
will jesture to the eight people affected by the
policy change.
