ITEM #5.A.
Old Business - Continued discussion of park bond issue topics.
Reminder was issued regarding the City Council Meeting scheduled to
discuss the park bond referendum on March 22, 1997. Committee position
continues to support a two question vote; one question for park items,
and one question for the County Road 42/Pilot Knob cemetery.
Kay Butler reported that the Valley Athletic Association had discussed
the potential referendum at their last meeting, and decided do a mailing
to their membership regarding the referendum issues.
Randy Johnson presented a draft flyer to the Committee for their review.
Apple Valley Parks and Recreation staff will be distributing a similar
flyer to the core groups and general public. Follow-up potentially can
be done with a postcard and a phone call to remind citizens to vote. A
sign-up sheet will be available at the front desk of the Apple Valley
Community Center for those residents requesting a reminder call.
RAAA/EVAA Representatives indicated that they could distribute a Park
and Recreation Department designed informational flyer to their
membership via their coaches.
Parks and Recreation staff will be putting together a list of most asked
questions/answers for public information. An informational brochure
should be available in approximately two to three weeks. Volunteers
will be needed to assist on the phone bank. Possibly can get some of
the larger local business to put up informational displays. Public
meetings will be held in April and May.
Discussion continued as to the flyer design. Information note:
Northwest Racquet Club in Burnsville is under new management and they’re
planning the install an outdoor pool at the facility.
