Diseussion o' Conditions at Moeller Park: Mike Hoene and 3 other residents.
Mr. Aone expressed coneer over the condi.an of Moeller Park. It is rocky,
muddy and bare. He recalled that two years age a hockey rirl€, skating rink, teni;
aurt basketball hoop, and baseball diamond were to be inst.11ed at Mo11er.
This has changed, and at this point they would be happy just to have cmething
a Moeller. They are concerned about the safety of their kids; ther want rass
on the pla+ground rather than rocks and bare fields.
Mr. Basset expressed his understandin of this roups concerns and that
he toc, feels frustrated hat seeding 3, behind schedule because of the wether.
He explaixied th.t befor seeding, the weather must be warm enouh for ermination,
the round ust be disced down and raked. The raine weather has caused del.ys.
RTe►w the seedin should be done soon at Moeller, Alimane, asd Diamond Path.
The ariginal 19'' concept fer Moeller Fak did include a hocker rink and tennis
eourt. In the 197g {because of a bond iasue ndt appraned by the voters) a.d
because of the new Scott Highlands Middle Schoal being built, tennis courts and
a hockey rink were deleted from the plaa for Moellsr Park. Zt was felt these
'a,l.ities would best be laeated at the school. Mr. Bassett is optimistic that
additional play equipmert wili be iatalled at Moeller in June. Tt is among
the top five playrounds scheduled to get play equipment first. (D3amond Path,
Hagetneister, Farquhar, Greenleaf '11 & 12, Moeller) he plan also calls for
blacktaping an area and instal3.in a basketball backstop and benche t the ba11-
fie]tL Chairpersan Sterling tated that after all the new equipment wae bou,gt,
• there was little mon.ey 1eft; but the committee certainly can see what could be
added to the parks.
The Parl Committee certainly will take the concerx.s of the Moeller Fark
residents into consideratin and are appreciative mf their keen interest in the
park. The group very uch wishes to have a hockey rink; the Park Committee will
keep this in minci . f.nds for park facilities becoe availb3e.
Mr. Basett will see that a big brush pile which as continv.ed to get larger
over the pa few years wi11 be removed (once onlr) from near Mr. Hoertes property.
This pile accumulated as a result of people in te neighborhaod uai. it as a
dumpin area Por rass clippings, limbs, etc.
Visitor to te meetin, Don Romain, mentioned the poor coaditions at A1iagnet
Park. Three hundred and ift* trees were lot; 2/3 of these have been remoeed but
the remainin ust be cleaxe.d out. 2he 'orestry ep€rtrent wi11 take care af this
durin the fall. The departmeat cuts the waod and Iets the Boy Seouts purchase t
to se1l far a fund-raiig g,roect.
Discussion of Prioritr Sytem for Installation af P1S' EqtilUl1@nt:
Mr. Bsset passed out a proposed schedule for the installation of the new
playround equipment as part af the park development program. Equipmet wil3
be installed first at the two parks with the new park shelter buildings (Diamond
Path and Fiagemeister). A1so Farquhar, (reenleaf 11 & 12, and Mmeller are amon
the top five, each to receive big modular quipmet. The remaining parks for
new insallation of plaequipment are taken in a3phabetical order. Parks with
additional installation of play equipment are assigned aceording to alphabetical
order except for Walnut Park, recommended fdr ea.rlier installat3on dte to its
proximity to A1iraanet Gommunity Park and potential heavy u; and Heritage Hills
which is a nw park with mo pla equipment within a safe distane for the children
in that neighborhood.

Farquhar--ctr have been sined by everone in the City. An engineer
or architect is needed to work at Farquhar, There is a Precanstruct3on erti-
ficate that must be sined statin that plans have been done br an engineer or
architect. Si.ee the City does not have an in-horse engineer, they are looking
for someone with a backrouMd in historical enineering or architecture.
Mr. Bassett explained to the committee the tedious process in fiMding someone
to do the reconatruetion work at the Hastings CourtYouse. The County Board of
ommissioners finally selected the firm of Miller and Dunwiddie to do the work.
Ae questioned how available they would be for the limited pro3ect at Farquhar Barn.
He stated h had tentatively set a raeetin with Mr. Foster Dunwiddie (wha 3.s a
member of the Baard of Review of the Naioxsal Historieal Preservation Smciety)
to explain he work needed at Farquhar and to look at the site. He asked if
