Minutes
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.by Vice Chair Joe Shaw
Members Present: Todd Blomstrom, Linda Dolan, Charles Grawe, Michael
Marben, Joe Shaw
Members Absent: Harald Eriksen, Arthur Zimmerman
Consultants/Alternates Present: Dave Bennett

2. Approval of A�enda
The Committee asked to add an additional education item on the Teen
Education Summit.
MOTION: Mr. Marben moved, second by Mr. Blomstrom, to approve the
agenda as amended. Motion passed 5-0.
3. Approval of January 1 l, 2012 Minutes
MOTION: Mr. Grawe moved, second by Mr. Marben, to approve the Minutes
of January 1 l, 2012 as presented. Motion passed 5-0.
4. Audience Items
There were no audience items.
5. Update on Resident Concerns re�a�xdin�Crosswalk at 147�' Street at Garrett
Avenue
Mr. Blomstrom said that the City has followed through on all of the items that
it committed to implementing. The Public Works Deparhnent is still
evaluating several of the trees that might obscure the view of the intersection,
but will need to wait for the trees to fully leaf out. The City also provided
centerline signs for school staff to place in the street during crossing periods.

Mr. Marben said the Police Department will monitor the implementation of
the centerline signs.
6. Resident Concern with Vehicle Crash alon�Palomino Drive near Hunters
� _.
Mr. Bennett summarized three previous crash incidents and the Committee's
recommended actions over the past several years. He also provided a memo
recommending the installation of the guardrail for the approximate cost of
$15,000. The Committee briefly discussed past efforts to improve the
situation and the continued crashes.
MOTION: Ms. Dolan moved, second by Mr. Marben, to recommend the City
install the guard rail as recommended by the engineer. Motion passed 5-0.
7. Other Traffic Concerns Communicated to the Ci ,t�pple Valley
Police Concerns
Mr. Marben reported concerns with wrong-way drivers in the area of 153ra
Street and Founders Way. It is not clear why drivers are not obeying the
signage when the roadways have been in place for many years.
Public Works' Concerns
Mr. Blomstrom reported that the lawn sign pilot project would begin soon in a
neighborhood north of 140�Street.
8. Education Issues
Ms. Dolan said she attended the Teen Safe Driving Summit. She provided a
detailed summary of the different speakers and topics. She also mentioned
several new technologies and training tools for young drivers.
Ms. Dolan said Eastview and Apple Valley High Schools are conducting an I
Got Caught Safe Driving program in the spring.

MOTION: Mr. Marben moved, second by Mr. Blomstrom, to adjourn.
Motion passed 5- 0. Meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
