Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Arthur Zimmerman. Members Present: Todd Blomstrom, Linda Dolan, Harald Eriksen, Charles Grawe, Jon Rechtzigel, Arthur Zimmerman Members Absent: Dick Asleson Consultants/Alternates Present: Tom Sohrweide Others Present: 2. Approval of A e� nda Mr. Zimmerman requested an additional agenda item to update the Committee on the process of appointing Mr. Asleson's replacement. MOTION: Mr. Blomstrom moved, second by Mr. Grawe, to approve the agenda as amended. Motion passed 6-0. 3. Approval of September 8,2010 Minutes MOTION: Mr. Grawe moved, second by Mr. Blomstrom,to approve the Minutes of September 8, 2010 as presented. Motion passed 5-0 (Mr. Eriksen abstained). 4. Audience Items There were no audience items. 5. 153rd Street and Folia�e Avenue Improvements Update Mr. Blomstrom reported that the Committee recommended installation of an All-Way Stop and a raised center median at this intersection on September 8, 2010. The City Council approved installation of the All-Way Stop on October 14, 2010 and temporary stop signed were installed the following day. Two additional vehicle crashes have occurred during preparation of engineering � • _ plans for modifications to the intersection. Mr. Blomstrom stated that the City intends to complete construction of the raised median, pavement markings, and permanent signs in November. 6. Concern for Speedin�Traffic alon Findlay Avenue Mr. Blomstrom said the City received a request for sidewalk extensions along Findlay Avenue. Sidewalk installation would require some form of a funding source. Ms. Dolan noted that another resident at the same general location had complained several years ago regarding vehicle speeds along the curve of the street. Mr. Zimmerman requested that staff gauge the interest of the neighborhood regarding sidewalk installation. City staff will study the radius of the curve of the road to determine if advisory signs are necessary for the roadway. 7. Other Traffic Concerns Communicated to the Citv of A�ple Valley Police Concerns Mr. Rechtzigel reported no new concerns. Public Works' Concerns Mr. Blomstrom provided a status update of the Cedar Avenue improvements study. 8. Education Issues The Committee briefly discussed launching a new bicycle education campaign to help address the increasing number of bicycle and vehicle accidents or near accidents that appear to be caused by bicyclists not following vehicle traffic laws. 9. Committee Member Replacement Process Committee member Dick Asleson passed away in the days following the last Committee meeting. The City advertised for applications and the City Council is expected to make an appointment by the end of 2010. 10. Adj ourn MOTION: Mr. Eriksen moved, second by Mr. Grawe, to adjourn. Motion passed 6- 0. Meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
