Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Arthur Zimmerman I�embers Present: I�icK Asleson, Todd Blomstrom, Linda Dolan, Charles Grawe, Jon Itechtzige?, Arthur Zimmerman Members Absent: Harald Eriksen Consultants/Alternates Present: Tom Sohrweide Others Present: Kathy Bodmer, 3aek Braz, �raig Mertas 2. A�proval of Agenda MOTIOI�T: Mr. Blomstrom moved, second by Ms. Dolan, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed 6-0. 3. Aptaroval of March 10 2010 Minutes MOTION: Mr. Rechtzigel moved, second by Mr. Blomstrom, to approve the Minutes of March I 0, 2010. Motion passed 5-0 (Mr. Aslesan abstained}. 4. Audience Items Craig Mertas expressed concern about vehicle speeds on I37'�' Street, particularly at the point at the bottom of the hill where 137tli meets I4�Q�' Street. He indicated that speeds appear to have increased since the street was overlayed last year. He said that the speed sign and Car 54 have had some impact. Ms. Dolan suggested that the City create a letter to be distributed through the athletic associations to the users of nearby park fields to urge carefizl driving � when going to and from games at parks. Mr. Blomstrom suggested utilizina the Neighborhood Watch b oups in the area. He also sugDested developing a boiler-plate flyer that could be lianded out to residents with neighborhood �affic concerns that they could distribute ta their neighbors. Mr. Grawe requested staff conduct a speed study to determine if the problem is a small number of outliers who are driving at particularly high speeds or if the �� � � � . Discussion of Draft Pedestrian Crosswal�, Policv At the previous mee�ing. tne Committee discussed a draft poiicy with guidelines as to what conditions warrant a crosswalk and how tne crossw�lk wauld b� confi�ur�d. N,. Zimmerman su�gested reformattin�to t�at a1� the de�initions associated with a table appear on the same pa�;e as the table. � MOTION: Mr. Grawe moved, second by Mr. Blomstrom, to forvE�ard the Pedestrian Crosswalk Policy to the Cit_y Council and recommend its adoption. I��Ioiion passed 6-0. 7. Greenleaf School Crossina Si�n Re uest Mr. Blomstrom said Greenleaf School representatives are requesting City consideration of a flashing crosswalk sign on Galaxie Avenue. Mr. Blomstrom said he would be meeting with the School officials to discuss broader crosswalk issues in May and would report hack at the 3uly meeting. 8. Participation in Trail and Sidewalk PlanninQ Studv Task Force Kathy Bodmer gave a brief introduction to the City's Trail and Sidewalk Planning Study Task Force and requested volunteers from the Committee. PvIOTION: Mr. Asleson moved, second by Mr. Rechtzigel, to appoint Ms. Dolan and Mr. Zimmeinlan as the representatives from the Committee. Motion passed 6-Q. 9. Other Traffic Concerns Communicated to the Citv af Ap�le��allev Police Concerns Mr. Rechtzigel reported that afficers have been conducting enfogcement on 137tj' Sneet. Mr. Blomstrom said he received a t�aftic speed complaint on a section o€ Everest Avenue. 10. Education �ssues Mr. Rechtzi�el said that the annual mock crash will be held at Eastview High School in May. � � � 11. Adjourn MQTION: Mr. Blomstrom moved, second by Ntr. Grawe, to adjaurr.
