MOTION: Mr. Dahlstrom moved, second by Mr. Saam, to approve the
Minutes of January 10, 2024. Motion passed 6-0.
5A. Request for Do Not Block Intersection Signage on Hayes Road
Mr. Acosta gave a brief review of the traffic on Hayes Road north of 1451h
Street by the Apple Valley High School. The issue stems from stacked
vehicles attempting to turn into the High School Parking lot in the morning.
The stacked vehicles make it very difficult for vehicles on 143rd Street to turn
either left or right and difficult for vehicles on 1441h Street to run left. The
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices allows for Do Not Block
Intersection signage, but such signage is generally intended for situations
where blockages are occurring throughout the day, not just one or two brief
periods.
MOTION: Ms. Dolan moved, second by Mr. Grawe, to recommend
installation of the proposed signage to allow the right-turn southbound
movement from 143rd Street and to allow the left-turn northbound movement
from 1441h Street. Motion passed 6-0.

Havelock Trail in the near future.

Lane.
6B.Educational Issues
Ms. Dolan gave an update on upcoming seminars and workshops on traffic
safety.
7. Adjourn
MOTION: Mr. Grawe moved, second by Mr. McKenzie, to adjourn. Motion

May 9, 2024 (revised)
I'm requesting a new sign, "School Bus Stop Ahead" be added to eastbound
westbe 140th St. W. somewhere between Galaxie Ave and Fountain Ave to
control school bus pickups at 140th and Fountain Ct.
At least three school buses stop at 140th St. W. and Fountain Ct. heading
westbound mod. Vehicles following the bus tend to stop when our red
lights and stop arm are activated. Vehicles traveling eastbound rarely stop yet
they are required by law to do so. Those that do stop tend to risk being hit from
behind since most folks don't stop.
6:xx am — (high school pickup)
7:51 am — Bus 276 (middle school pickup)
9:05am — Bus 352 (elementary school pickup)
2:30pm - HS dropoff
3:30pm — Bus 276 (middle school pickup)
4:15pm — Bus 352 (elementary school pickup)
Thank you for considering this change.
