URBAN AFFIARS COMMITTEE
MINUTES
June 17, 1976
Present: Hecker, Myers, Boston, Ronay, Regis
Hecker and Ronay attended the City Council meeting on June 16, 1976 and
reported that the Council approved the change in the liquor ordinance,
however, there were some questions regarding the wine-only ordinance.
After considerable discussion regarding the wine ordinance, the committee
decided that if the title were changed the "off-sale" question would be
clear. They changed the title of the wine-only ordinance to read as follows:
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION AND ISSUANCE OF ON-SALE
WINE LICENSES.
The committee then began discussion the Snowmobile ordinance. They plan
to rewrite the ordinances that now exist and combine them. At the present
time there are three ordinances having to do with snowmobiles.
There was some discussion on "how" the City could eliminate snowmobilers
from outside of Apple Valley and still allow the local residents to snowmobile.
Any solution would involve enforcement by the police department.
There was some discussion with designating snowmobile trails and areas for
snowmobiling. The committee would like some input from the park and
recreation director regarding snowmobiling on public property.
The committee will review the information received from the "League of
Municipalities" and come back to the next meeting with more specific ideas
and suggestions for changes. They plan to invite the local snowmobilers to
a meeting as well as the general public for input regarding this ordinance.
Meeting adjourned.
The next meeting of the Urban Affairs Committee will be on July 15, 1976
at 7:30 p.m.
Enclosed are copies of snowmobile ordinances now existing in Minnesota.
