HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/16/1975 � � i3RBAN AFFAIRS GOMMITTEE MEETING Apple Valley Village Hall, Thursday, October 16, 1975, 7:30 p.m. Present: George Hecker, Chairman, Dennis Boston, Jim Ronay, Hank Myers and Dorothy Regis. General Discussion of Ordinances 17 and 43. Jim Ronay called to the groups attention that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a person cannot be put in jail because he cannot pay a fine. This may have a conflict with Ordinance 4��, Section 27. Points of discussion --- Owner of private property responsible for enforce- ment -- police should go in and enforee ordinance. The ordinance applies to owner and residents of park. "Clauses" parking prohibited and speed limit apply to anyone going into the park -- not only owner, residents and invi ted guests. Owner should put up signs regarding parking; then enforce by calling police. Parking ordinance cannot be enforced without signs. Re: Sec. 6i -- in lieu of alternative; enforce 1aw that now exists. Discussed recommended cha nges in Ordinances 43 and 17, as stated in letter to City Council dated October 12, 1975. Hope tA appear on the next City Council Agenda. Correct letter of October 12, 1975 to read 15 mph as stated in Ordinance 43, Sec 6j. Louise Noreen resigned as a mc�nber of the committee as she is moving from the city. The committee wnuld Like the city council to appoint a new member to repLace her. Members of the committee would like to see the results of th� survey taken in the Coun�il Table, Summer 1975. Dennis Boston is working on an ordinance regarding abandoned vehicles in a residential area. It was suggested that he take an approach fram the Environmental stancipoint -- having to do w�th aesthetics. He is now compiling information to present to the committee. Dick Aslesen will notify the committee manbers when the Ordinance Changes will appear on the City Council Agenda.
