CITY OF APPLE VALLEY
URBAN AFFAIRS COM�IITTEE
November 1, 1979
PRESENT: Myers, Deters and McKay. Also staff inembers Asleson and Kelly
together with several residents.
ABSENT: Regis, Edwards, and Smith
Since a quorum of the com�nittee was not present, but since several residents
were in attendance to hear the discussion on the referral by the City Council
to up-date the Firearms Ordinance, it was agreed that the discussion would
proceed on the subject.
Several residents were present and directed their attention to the following
issues:
l. Whether or not hunting within Apple Valley should in fact be eliminated
or in the alternative, more severely restricted or, in the alternative
to leave the issue as is.
2. Since the committee had received from the City Council, a draft of the
° ordinance, some persons in attendance directed their attention to that
draft language.
3. Specific areas of concern addressed included usage of bows and arrows
as relates to target practice and so on.
The City staff inembers distributed to the committee members present and those
persons in attendance in the audience, a memorandum dated November l, 1979
related to the Firearms Qrdinance.
It was agreed by the Cotmnittee members present that the Firearms Ordinance
would be pursued at subsequent meetings.
As no quorum was present, there were no motions made at this time, including
the adjournment motion.
