URBAN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MINUTES
OCTOBER 4, 1979 ,
PRESENT: Gloria Deters, John McKay, Hank Myers, Dorothy Regis and Bill Smith
ABSENT: Dick Edwards
The Committee picked up on the Park Ordinance revisions where it had left
off. Sections 13 through 19 had few changes as they dealt mostly with
administrative procedures. It was decided to wait until all the changes
had been typed up before a recommendation to send on to the Council would
be made.
The balance of the meeting was concerned with the Dakota County street naming
and numbering system. There was some discussion regarding the desirability
of the Committee holding a public hearing for input. The Committee concluded
only those who had pet ideas for their own street name would attend and that
a "no win" situation would occur, leaving a bad taste for government in the
mouths of those people.
Bill Smith suggested a Council succession ordinance be considered. Rick Kelley
stated the basic procedure is controlled by State law.
