HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/07/1978 . . CITY OF APPLE VALLEY URBAN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MINUTES SEPTEMBER 7, 1978 PRESENT: Hank Myers, Dick Edwards, Joan Goering, & Dorothy Regis, Rick Kelley. ABSENT: George Hecker, Bill Smith, Clint Dixon. Vice Chairman Hank Myers called the meeting to order. Rick Kelley distributed a copy of "Option 3" --SHOREAD Overlay District - Amendment to Existing Comprehensive Ordinance for discussion by the Committee. Mr. Kelley told the Committee that the amendment to the ordinance must be at least as restrictive as the proposed; however it can be more restrictive. If the City does not adopt a Shoreland Ordinance the DNR can cause the City to adopt an ordinance tht they have prepared. Regis questioned wht bodies of water they were talking about in Apple Valley. Mr. Kelley stated any body of water that is 10 acres and over. Lake Alimagnet, Farquar Lake and Long Lake are the lakes in Apple Valley that are classified b.v the Commissioner of Natural Resources as "Natural Environment Lakes and Streams." The three classif:cations for bodies of water were discussed. This proposed Shoreland Ordinance would be incorporated into the present Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Kelley also noted that this Ordinance does not apply to existing homes, or platted areas -- it would apply to the unplatted land surrounding the body of water. This would apply to the LacLavon area if it would change use and if it were to develop for resi- dtial homes. Mr. Kelley also noted that Lac Lavon is into the water table. After some discussion regarding the definitions of the "classifications" and the proposal in general the Committee agreed that they did not feel any changes were necessary. MOTION: of Edwards, seconded by Myers to recorinend that the proposed Amendment to the present Zoning Ordinance regarding the Shoreland Overlay District be forwarded to the PLanning Commission for consideration. (See attached Option 3) Motion carried unanimously. The Committee will begin work on a proposed ordinance regulating vending machines at their next meeting -- September 21, 1978 at 7:30 p.m. Meeting adjourned.
