CITY OF APPLE VALLEY
URBAN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MINUTES
MARCH 16, 1978
PRESENT: Chairman Hecker, Bill Smith, Dorothy Regis and Dick Edwards.
ABSENT: Hank Myers, Joan Goering and Clint Dixon.
Chairman Hecker called the meeting to order.
It was reported that the Urban Affairs Committee has a new member, Mr. Clint
Dixon of 5Q36 Upper 147th Street. h1r. Dixon was unable to attend the meet-
ing tonight, however, he will be present at the next meeting, April 6, 1978.
Dorothy Regis reported that Richfield passed a pornography ordinance and it
was recommended that they be called for a copy of the ordinance.
Change in the Weed portion of the Nuisance Qrdinance.
There was some discussion regarding the recommended change.
MOTLON: of Smith, seconded by Regis to recommend the following amendment
to Ordinance No. 27 of the City of Apple Valley.
Section II -- Items 12 & 13.
12. Any growth of weeds , grass or other rank vegetation in
excess of twelve (12) inches in height on any platted
occupied lots and platted unoccupied lots within three
hundred (300) feet of an occupied lot, and unplatted
property within three hundred (300) feet of platted
occupied lots; except for natural areas defined as woods,
pastures, parks, bogs, marshes and agricultural areas.
13. The word "weeds" as used in this section shall be con-
strued to mean and include all noxious weeds as defined
by the Statutes of the State of Minnesota and all such
useless and troublesome plants as are commonly known
as weeds to the general public.
Motion carried unanimously.
The Committee will discuss the Group Home situation at their next meeting.
Meeting adjourned.
